The ælf is split into three classifications, common, high,and dark. These differences stem from class, bloodlines, and location. Common ælves, covered here, are the bog-standard ælves whose traits are generally the base for the two sub-races.

Physical Description

Ӕlves are generally slender creatures with light, hollow bones- to better house and conduct the magic flowing through them. They have wispy feather-like hair that can come in many colors and large, protruding, pointed ears. Males are taller, have longer ears, and are often more flamboyantly colored in hair and skin. Females tend to be shorter, have shorter ears (still big compared to other races though), and are plainly colored. Males have broader shoulders but both tend to have narrow hips.

As for skin tone, they have what humans consider a more natural range as a base. Ӕlves have patterns of coloration on the ridge of their noses, legs, fingers, and occasionally in other areas of the face such as around the eyes. While males tend to have brighter secondary colors, females with bright coloration and hair is not unheard of, and vice versa. Non-white sclera is rare but not an impossibility!

Their prominent nose bridge is usually one smooth slope, almost beak-like and they lack eyebrows. Their necks are naturally longer than that of humans as well as, in some cases, artificially extended through the use of metal rings.

To reproduce, female ælves lay an egg that is then taken care of and incubated by the male until it hatches. Baby ælves are born very small compared to other kinds of babies, and are very delicate. They require constant supervision their first seven or so years.

Ӕlves have the longest lifespan of the sibyllian races, the upper limit being around 350 years. They reach young adulthood around age 70.

Range and Population

Ӕlves are one of the more sparsely seen races in Sibyl. They live incredibly long lives and don’t reproduce as often as other races. They tend to stay away from the colder areas of Sibyl and prefer the warmer/ temperate environments that the South of Sibyl enjoys.

Besides the predominantly ælf ruled and populated city of Glendale, ælves outside of the city tend not to be in close contact with many other ælves.
