Sibyl is a fantasy world from my brain.

Geography

Sibyl is split into four major continents surrounded by a large ocean. It is split into five distinct countries, each having their own distinct biomes, biodiversity, governments, and cultures.

Sonora - otherwise known as ‘The Spiral’ - is the largest continent in Sibyl. Within its spiral is the Jade Sea , aptly named for its distinct green color.

Along the southern coast of Sonora is a collection of islands referred to as the Villo Archipelago.

To the west is Gruyor - nicknamed the ‘Isle of Overgrowth’ for its lush flora. It is the smallest of the continents.

In the east is Odoaa, the scorched lands. Its main distinction is the desert that spans across the whole continent.

Contrast to Odoaa is its neighbor, Warndon. Not much is known about it, beyond the fact that it's blanketed in snow and ice.

History

Sibyl has a long and storied history that has been tirelessly recorded by the Custodians. The realms history is divided into ages, marked by notable events and common trends. We are currently in the Age of Epiphany.

Age of Eruption

In the beginning, there was chaos. A world in turmoil, a world that hated its creations. And it's creations that resented the only home they've known, as it provided them a grueling life of pain and hunger and sorrow.

War and betrayal was a fact of life, warmth and kindness was a hard sought after commodity.

The First Sprout

Gods soon took notice, and claimed the volatile land, making it more habitable and beautiful. They claimed the people who already called this land home their children and disciples and gave them gifts of bounty, stability, and hope.

The Gilded Age

The gods made shining cities and new lifeforms to live and play and worship in them- casting aside the ancient races who now rely on their faith.

From the elements they made draakons, and from the remaining stardust they created humans.

The Foresakening

Bored in their immortality, the old gods fled the realm. Leaving behind their children, confused and now helpless. Draakons with their innate wisdom and long lifespans quickly took control of the land.

Age of Flame

As time passed, the human race grew rapidly in numbers and intelligence. The common written language used today was invented.

War broke out, as the humans wanted the land for themselves, they rallied the ancient races against the draakons to great success. The draakons fought hard and scorched the land but were ultimately hunted to near extinction. Even the precious few draakons who fought on the humans' side were ultimately betrayed and disposed of.

After the war... Humans, in their endless confidence, believed the others would simply kneel to them.

The Founding Times

After the fall of the draakons, the ancient races turned against the cocky humans and each other in a race to establish the most powerful civilizations.

It was then that the Empress made herself known, she came to usher in peace and order through the realm and legitimize the current countries we know today. The Custodians also emerged at this time, an impartial society to keep historical record.

The Great Flight

This era of Sibyllian history marks the introduction of the Fae as they escaped their current realm en masse, and the transitional period it took for them to settle into this world, among it's people. This is when the Council was established to aid the Empress in governing Sibyl and deal with world-wide issues and questions- such as the abrubt introduction of the Fae.

Age of Epiphany

This current age is marked by tremendous scientific and magical advancement. The relative peace allows the rich to spend their money funding the arts and research, while creators have the freedom to create and innovate.

Politics

Every country in Sibyl has their own rulers/ governments but they all, by tradition, defer to the Empress as the Supreme Leader of the Realm. She techinally only has jurisdiction over the City of Splendors. In this current Age there is little turmoil between the countries who, for the most part, keep to themselves. That is to say, internal affairs are not always so peaceful.
