It’s good luck to keep a halfelin in your company. At least according to old wives tales. Halfelins are a small, ancient race who value their communities above all and are fiercely loyal.
Physical Description
Halfelin are the smallest of the ancient races, with the max height being barely above 3 feet tall. Their bodies are small and flexible, allowing them to squeeze through tight spaces with minimum discomfort. They have thick tufts of hair located on their chest, tail, upper feet, and along their inner ears. They have thinner hair/ fuzz covering other key points of their bodies (such as arms, legs, tummy…) and are prone to wispy facial hair.
Haeflin's have large, flexible, rounded ears that can swivel to pick up on the slightest sounds. Their shape also allows for thermoregulation, as they can position away from their heads to create more surface area.
Their long tails act as a counterweight, allowing Halfelin to easily balance themselves on the ground as well as above it. It is generally hairless except for the tuft at the tip of the tail. (This tuft can either be the same color as the Halfelin's hair, or the same color as the fur along their inner ears.)
Halfelins have large round eyes and usually have button noses.
Range and Population
Halfelin originally hale from Odoaa, but have since expanded their range from the desert continent to all over Sibyl. They’re generally drawn to warmer, dusty climates - like the Desol Desert - but that doesn’t stop the occasional Halfelin settling down in the cold.
Halfelins are the third most populous race in Sibyl. In larger cities they have a tendency of forming smaller, close knit communities - allowing them to keep tabs on each other.
Culture
The halfelin family model often looks like a baby, and a gaggle of adults clamoring to take care of it. Halfelins are generally monogamous but when it comes to child rearing, everyone is part parent- it quite literally takes a village.
Halfelins value family and their close knit communities. They rely on each other without shame or guilt. To strangers, however, they are not as generous. Halfelin businesses, of course, treat people “like family” but actual communities like to keep to themselves.
Becoming true friends with a halfelin, or marrying one nets you the whole community of them to back you as well.
