Long lived and fun loving, the floren are a childlike Fae race of woodland sprites who live in and protect forests.

Physical Description

The floren is a diminutive, humanoid, creature from the Fae Realm. Their most defining traits are their height (clocking in usually 3ft or under), their perpetually rosy cheeks, and the plant growing from the top of their head. These head pieces are as diverse as the people they grow from. Each floren’s plant aligns with their personality, though in some families the plant may be passed down the generations.

These head pieces grow directly from the florens skull and are connected to nerves, and thus cannot be removed completely without a LOT of pain and distress from the floren. Regular pruning is ok and sometimes even required to keep them and their head piece healthy and thriving! The head piece grows with the floren, it reflects their health and their age- some floren have had their head piece take over just about the whole top of their head in their old age!

Floren are a long lived race, even longer than the Sibyllian Ӕlves. They cap out at around 500 years and reach young adulthood at around 50. They spend much of their life looking young and having fun before beginning to show signs of age around 300 years old.

Range and Population

The floren usually reside in densely wooded areas. They live in large hollow trunks and in the canopies of trees. They usually like to stay hidden so the tree houses they do build are usually camouflaged or too high up to easily see. They tend to stay out of colder areas.

Culture

Like many fae races, the floren are a mysterious race who don’t let on their secrets easily. They are known to be a little mischievous but not downright malicious. Though they are generally silly they are quite serious when it comes to the value of life, and are especially sensitive to the treatment of plants. Being a vegan race, they know everyone needs to eat but being needlessly unkind to plants is unforgivable. Harming, trampling, etc.. They use every part of a plant they possibly can, eat what’s edible and utilize the rest by other practical means.

Their clothes are made of plant fiber based fabrics and their implements are carved from dead trees. They focus on being sustainable and a symbiotic relationship with their home forest, never taking more than they need. Some floren headpieces even bear fruit, though smaller than normal fruits, they are still edible and are offered often freely. Outsiders find eating a floren's fruit to be strange but to the floren there is nothing wrong with it unless you take one without asking first!
